Still Struggling with Cravings?

Do You Continue to Still Struggling with Cravings?

Do you have that tiny little voice in your head (which usually comes from your gut) that says…”just one more” or “okay… after I eat this, or do that, or drink this, or buy that, or finish this, I will stop and I won’t do it tomorrow.. for sure!” Or, the voice that says “I just can’t stop”? Me too. By the Grace of God, on Thursday, June 2,  I will celebrate a huge milestone .. 14 years of soberity from alcohol and drugs. WOW! It still amazes me it has been that long. However, within those years, I realized there are still alot of things that I can get caught up in and do excessively. I seem to be powerless over them, like sugar, for example. I still have those little voices in my head …. kind of like gerbils on steroids, that always wants me to have “just a little more” before “I quit!”.  Once I got real honest with myself in 2002, I learned how to deal with my addictions in a 12 Step Program. but it didn’t take me long to realize how I was powerless over many things. I needed more help to learn how to live a happy and healthier life, inside and out. And I sought it out.  Over the last 14 years I have studied alot about “isms” and what to do about them. Yep, ISMs, that “incredibly short memory” that forgets that what we doe is harming us. It’s out there. I see all sorts of addictions first hand in what I do for a living. I see in my social circles and in the media. ISMs are everywhere. There are solutions! Yoga is one of them. yogainsanibel In early sobriety I found that yoga helped me with my physical health and my emotional balance. Yoga introduced me into meditation practice that my busy brain could do. I did my first yoga class in 1997, but it wasn’t until 2006 that I realized how much it really helped my overactive mind. I jumped in a 200 hour training program and became a yoga teacher a year later. I knew there was something to this so I went further (of course). In 2015 I completed my 500hr Master Level certification as a Healing Emphasis Yoga Therapist. and now am able to help others even more.  I routinely uses yoga as an integral part of my recovery regimen today. Yoga provides me strategies and solutions to deal with those little voices in my head that I now share with anyone who needs help… and is willing to take action. Yep.. Yoga works! And anyone can do it! It’s simple.. really.   I’m back in Ohio for the summer and I am excited to share what I have learned you: Transform Recovery Yoga in the Chagrin Falls. Now, if you don’t live close, no worries. I am developing a 7-part series to help you out.  Hang tight! I will be launching the blog series soon.
