Natural Sugar Replacements

Got a sugar problem? Our entire society does! You are not alone. We have options, however, to the addictive white substance known as sugar. I coach my clients on different ways to break-free of sugar addiction, but I thought I would put a few quick replacement tips on tonight’s blog. So, without further hesitation, here we go;

1. Honey. Raw honey has multiple health benefits including iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, vitamin B6, riboflavin and niacin, while also promoting the growth of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract. Calories: 1 tablespoon – 22 calories

2.  Date sugar. Crammed with fiber, vitamins, and with energy-boosting qualities, the slightly thicker consistency makes it great for use in baking. Calories: 1 tablespoon – 43 calories

3. Coconut Palm sugar.  Unlike normal sugar, coconut palm contains several nutrients including iron, zinc, calcium and potassium. Calories: 1 tablespoon – 45 calories

4. Agave Nectar. With a low glycimc index, this sweetener has vitamins, minerals and fiber, fruit is a simple alternative to pure refined sugar. Calories: 1 tablespoon – 24 calories
