Eggnog for Sugar Addicts
If you’re starting to get on the clean eating, clean living ship – the holidays will present triggers. Some holiday foods simply present positive past memory triggers, like the smell of grandma’s sugar cookies that make you slip back into a memory and also slip up on the sugar-free aspect of your life. When times like this rise up, and they will during this season, know that you can have the healthier, sugar-free version. I always have an alternative recipe for holiday favorite so feel free to reach out to me if you’re craving a holiday favorite that is linked to a warm memory.
For example, one of my favorite holiday beverages is eggnog. As with everything this season, I have a vegan and sugar-free version that is a sensational alternative to drink around the Christmas tree!
Here’s the recipe:
– 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
– 2 medium pitted dates, soaked in 1 tsp. natural vanilla extract
– 1/2 tsp. ground pumpkin pie spice
– 1/4 tsp. sea salt
– 1-2 medium and ripe frozen bananas
– 1 tsp. white chia seeds
Simply place everything in a blender until it is creamy and mirrors eggnog consistency.
Remember, as addicts we tend to eat by our feelings. We crave sugar to get that high and then we crave certain sugar foods to remember the positive moments of our past. Sugar is deadly. It can lead to all types of health complications. Keep your health and being clean as your first priority this holiday season!
