Free Apple Pie Recipe!

Apples season is here. My favorite is honey crisp but any type will work when it comes to this recipe. We have all heard that “An apple a day keeps the doc away” but this recipe also crushes your sugar cravings too.

Besides being a NATURAL sweetener, apples are high in fiber which makes you feel full longer while satisfying your cravings. More fiber means more ways to eliminate toxicity in your body too!

I love making my “raw” pies. They are simple to make and no worries about the “exact” timing to bake or the precise amount of ingredients that is needed. These pies come out perfect every time.

Plus, here’s the best part of the LiveFit Apple Pie.. it’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack. Healthy fats from the walnut and sunflower seeds help stabilize your blood sugar from the carbs in the apples. And as I wrote about in my previous Sugar-Free Summer email, cinnamon is the perfect spice to help with sugar cravings and offers many other health benefits too!

So, head on out to the farmers market this weekend to pick up your favorite apples… or better yet – take the family to an apple farm this weekend and pick them fresh off the tree!

Nothing beats a home-made apple pie. Your friends, family and your belly will love it!

What You Need:
1 cup ground raw walnuts
1 cup pitted dates (soaked if needed to soften)
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds, soaked for 20 min, drained & rinsed
4 cups shredded apples (any variety)
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup fresh apple juice
1/2 cup shredded coconut for garnishing
2/3 cup raisins, dried figs, or prunes (your choice!)

How To Make:

Directions for Crust:
✴ Using a food processor, mix 2/3 of the shredded coconuts, all of the walnuts, dates, and sunflower seeds until well-mixed.
✴  Press the mixture into a pie shell to make the crust and set aside

Directions for Filling:
✴ Place the grated apples in a large mixing bowl; blend the cinnamon, apple juice and raisins together, and pour it over the grated apples; mix thoroughly
✴ Fill the pie crust with the apple filling and garnish it with more shredded coconut
✴ Serve or refrigerate for later. it should keep for 2 days in your fridge… but it probably won’t last that long!
