Staying Fit Using Herbs During the New Year and Beyond
Use Herbs During the New Year and Beyond to Help You Stay Healthy and Fit!
Herbs are a powerful way for us to stay fit all year round. Yes, staying fit this year starts in your in the kitchen and on your plate. Seasonal depression, holiday stress, and holiday splurging can disrupt a healthy lifestyle. However, choosing to use herb and herbal supplements can help you keep fit during the holiday season.
How to Use Herbs to Keep You Fit
1. This holiday season do not skimp on the garlic.
Yep, garlic IS an herb. This pungent little bulb will ward off much more than a couple of vampires. The common cold and flu viruses seem to flee just as quickly. Studies have shown garlic actually helps protect you from viruses while boosting your body’s production of antibodies. Further, studies have indicated that garlic, eaten daily, significantly lowers total cholesterol.
Garlic has also been found to inhibit breast cancer cell formation and drastically cut the risk of developing colon cancer. Compounds found in the bulb are involved in the production of enzymes that neutralize cancer-causing chemicals.
Have a hard time eating garlic? Then consider an odorless supplement! GARLIC by Karuna provides you an easy to swallow, odorless because of its’s enteric coating so it’s absorbed into your body. Click here to order.
2. Drink plenty of herbal tea
Sure it’s important to load up on the dark orange fruits and veggies all year round, especially during the holidays. Beta-carotene is the pigment that causes carrots, pumpkins, cantaloupes and other foods orange or yellow—and it does quite a bit more than that. While vitamin C gets all the publicity for boosting immunity, beta-carotene can have quite an impact on the immune system, boosting the number of T-helper cells when taken regularly.
However, during the winter season, instead of downing a few additional high calorie, high sugar cocktails, turn to warm drinks like green herbal teas to hydrate, eliminate cravings, and help your digestion and immune system. Varieties like chamomile, anise, and mint are very useful and can be consumed between and after meals. I personally love Ginger Root tea after eating a little too much of too much. Herbal teas a perfect nightcap before going to sleep. Try Sleepy Temple Tea by Buddha Tea. It’s 100% organic too!
3. Maintain a proper vitamin regimen — daily
Yes, I believe hers are powerful, but so are victims! Multivitamins can help you stay healthier and feel better and may even promote weight loss. Taking vitamins is an essential part of maintaining proper health throughout the winter. Consider drinking an “all in one” shake to get all the vitamins and minerals you need plus the perfect serving of vegan protein per serving. My favorite is THORNE MediPro All-In- One Shake.
If taking alot of pills isn’t your thing, try a sublingual B-supplement. I reach for Liposome B Complex: Sublingual Spray B-vitamins combat depression which seems to elevate during the holiday. B-vitamins also boost energy levels and help reduce stress. Iron also helps boost energy levels. I recommend Vitamin Code RAW Iron.
I’ve talked about zinc before. It’s critical that you have adequate levels of zinc during the holidays. Zinc works to boost immune health, healing, and helps your skin, hair and nail stay healthy when it is cold and dry outside. Stay healthy this season with supplements and a proper diet.
Make and keep resolution to “spice up” your holidays meals and all of your meal in the new year with herbs. I always recommend to eat whole, nutrition foods whenever and wherever possible. If you find that you are too busy (and getting too stressed out) consider “supplementing” to make sure you are getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
