Sugar and Aging
There have been several conflicting studies about chocolate and wine and the benefits vs. the negative aspects of these foods / beverages. First, you need to know that not all wines and chocolates are alike.
If you are going to have chocolate in moderation, opt for dark chocolate with a 70+ percentage of cocoa. If you want to have wine, try opting for a Pinot Noir. The rules should be the darker the wine and the darker the chocolate the better it is for you. Note, the better it is for you doesn’t mean it is really the best thing for you. Again, moderation is key!
I don’t want you to deprive yourself from eating chocolate or having a half of a glass of red wine on Valentine’s Day. This wouldn’t be fair and can backfire on all the good intentions you have to free yourself of sugar’s harmful impact on your life. Take a piece of dark chocolate, take a sip of wine if you have to – just make sure you’re not drinking glasses of wine everyday or eating chocolate daily.
